Itinerary Description

Unlike heavily impacted Napa and Sonoma, the Paso Robles wine country has plenty of small, friendly wineries featuring award winning red wines as well as many relatively level roads with light traffic. Our half day wine country bicycle tour begins east of Paso Robles and winds along scenic roads on its way to a peaceful road next to the Salinas River, where the understated elegance of Hearst Ranch Winery beckons. A short climb away from the river brings you into the heart of Paso Robles wine country, where you have chances to taste at other wineries, such as the colorful Via Vega Vineyard, while enjoying expansive views of the surrounding vineyards. The tour finishes with a complimentary wine tasting and gourmet picnic lunch (or Italian bistro menu featuring pizza on the weekend) at Le Vigne Winery tasting room. This bicycle tour of the Paso Robles area provides a great half day of wine tasting and cycling along mostly level roads and is our easiest wine country bike tour.

Winery Reservations

Most wineries are now requiring reservations. Therefore, when you plan a winery bike tour with us we will contact you to make a winery tasting plan and then make reservations for you. Tastings usually take 1 to 1.5 hours, which limits the number of wineries one can visit on a half day tour. Wine tasting fees at all wineries (except the lunch winery) are not included in the tour price. On Saturday and Sunday we will eat lunch off the Italian bistro menu featuring pizza at Le Vigne (included in tour price) instead of our picnic lunch. 4/6/22 update: Currently on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only two wineries are open on the route.

Comparison to Other Bike Tours

The Biking: Paso Robles Wineries Half Day bike tour is our easiest wine country bike tour and usually visits two to three total wineries along the regular route. Our Biking: San Luis Obispo Wineries Half Day bike tour is a little shorter by miles, but does have a few more hills. The San Luis Obispo Half Day tour also has more wineries to choose from for tasting along the regular route.

The Biking: Paso Robles Wineries Full Day tour explores the same general area as the Paso Robles Half Day tour, but explores some beautiful additonal areas in the afternoon and has options to ride even more miles and visit up to one additional winery.

Half Day Bike Tours in the Afternoon

Our half day bike tours typically start with a ride in the morning and end with lunch in the early afternoon. If this timing does not work for you, we can also start with a lunch mid day and ride in the afternoon. If you'd like your half day bike tours to be like this, be sure to ask when you make the reservation by phone or put a note in the comments field of the online reservation system. There is no difference in cost for doing a half day bike tour this way. Note that for Paso Robles bike winery tours starting with lunch and riding in the afternoon is NOT recommended during hotter times of the year (late May to early September).
